Hi! I’m John Gray PMP, CAPM, CPM, a Telly Award-winning Project Manager, but I like to think of myself as a timeliness, quality, innovation, and resource manager.
I’m an Award-winning Project Manager bringing over 6 years of project management expertise and a 14-year background in production to the table. During my recent tenure at Spectrum, a leading broadband connectivity company and cable operator serving more than 32 million customers in 41 states, I’ve spearheaded marketing strategies for various regional sales teams, producing over 12,000 deliverables for 650+ key clients, supporting $275M+ in core earnings, and positively impacting customer retention and spend.
I excel in navigating complex, high-stakes environments, managing cross-disciplinary teams, and delivering innovative solutions on time and under budget. My role often involves leading bi-weekly sales meetings, where I effectively communicate project updates and realign strategies as needed. I’m entrusted with overseeing projects from conceptualization to delivery, including the final review and approval of commercials before client presentation.
As the primary point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and vendors, I’ve consistently solved intricate technical and creative challenges. My ability to facilitate seamless communication ensures timely delivery within stringent budgets. Known for my organizational skills, efficiency, and analytical mindset, I’ve been repeatedly acknowledged for my exceptional team leading and dedication in annual performance reviews.
I pitched a light-hearted, comical, animated concept to the South Carolina Auto Dealers Association (SCADA). They approached us needing an original concept to highlight the benefits of shopping at a brick-and-mortar auto dealer instead of the new trend in online car buying sites.
I reached out to our Market Research and Insights department and used the most current information possible to write the script. Then brought in and collaborated with our Designing Creative Team to conceive a color palette, fonts, and several different animation mockups for the client to choose from under strict brand guidelines.
Due to a quick turnaround time, I suggested the creation of a second spot with a live shoot to get on air rapidly, as well as two sets of animated banners for their social accounts.
We produced, edited, and delivered a client-approved spot in 4 days. Finished animated spot within 10 days, both spots within budget.

Take a look at some of my work!
I created six monthly Chevy Sports Night tag updates for Chevrolet from 2017 - present. This client needed an extremely fast turnaround, and due to the high spend level, we were challenged with a deadline that was to be met at any cost.
I worked with the client’s agency to rewrite the overly lengthy copy (client-provided) and sent the assets to the edit team with instructions to turn the edits around before they were even started! We all had a good laugh and they cranked out all six updates in a matter of hours.
The client was extremely pleased with the ending result, approving all spots upon first viewing. Sales support wrote to John “I always appreciate the clear communication from you and your team!”

Liberty Healthcare
Liberty Healthcare reached out to me concerned about creating a pair of :30 spots that told a story. I summoned the creative team and led a call with the client who informed us that they wanted their creative to pull at the heartstrings.
I co-wrote the scripts for their Rehab and Hospice locations. I led the rapidly expanding project, negotiating the budget, scheduling, delegating action items to the production team, locking down locations, securing talent, and booking hotels. Each of the shoots went off without a hitch. The edit team turned the spots around proficiently and the client was elated with the results.

The North Carolina Licensing Board of General Contractors and their agency returned to me for a second year wanting to freshen their campaign to raise awareness and advocate for homeowners about working with general contractors. I got the creative rolling centered around the theme of ‘Red Flags’ for homeowners to look out for. Based on real-life scenarios the Board has seen from actual consumers, I pitched three ideas that the client couldn’t choose between. To help them visualize the spots, I reached out to our cross-functional LA Team Supervising CG Editor and the Senior Editors on his team with a couple of the scripts. PoolHole involved creating an abandoned pool hole already dug in the backyard and HouseFlip a series of shoddy renovations. The SoCal team provided me with a range of storyboards to put the client at ease visually. I led the team, prepping for the shoot, providing all the essential behind-the-scenes casting, and assisting in location ‘scouting’ on AirBnb. The result was featured in the internal company magazine, The Pulse. Core supported: Over $146K in 2022. The client agreed to create four additional :15 versions of the spots due to a successful campaign.

Ashley Furniture
Ashley Furniture has 3 separate digital campaigns that run throughout the year. For their Labor Day 2019 landing page the client had delayed their approval for the design of the page for so long that when they finally did approve, the page was due to go live the next day. I took the lead of the project, expediting the execution phase while simultaneously working to improve the customer experience. Worked together with the South Division Creative Manager to prioritize and schedule the development of the page. We were able to beat the deadline with an extra developer pulled from another team. The South Division Creating Manager wrote: “John always goes above and beyond to make sure client's expectations are met, even when they are extremely unrealistic. He helps us manage a very sensitive client, ensures that we receive the best products, and does a wonderful job with his team. Thank you, John!” Ashley Furniture stepped up its splash page game significantly in 2020. In 2019 Ashley ordered 7 for 2019, and in 2020 they ordered 24. The creative team and I stepped up our game accordingly. Tasked with getting 17 new Splash Pages developed and coded, the team and I were able to over-deliver the completed and coded splash pages before all deadlines and within budget. The client was extremely pleased with the ending result, approving all spots upon first viewing. Sales support wrote to John “I always appreciate the clear communication from you and your team!”
